What is the ACCA OBU BSc?

The BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University is available exclusively to ACCA students who have passed the ACCA Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills exams. It is conferred by one of the UK's leading universities and holds significant weight on your CV — demonstrating both academic depth and professional capability.

To earn the degree, you must complete a Research and Analysis Project (RAP) — a 6,500-word analytical project on a real company using a topic from OBU's approved list. You also submit a 2,000-word Skills and Learning Statement (SLS) and require a mentor sign-off throughout the process.

The RAP is assessed by Oxford Brookes University and graded on a Pass/Merit/ Distinction basis. Many students underestimate the academic rigour involved — which is exactly where expert mentoring makes the critical difference.

Did you know? Students who work with an experienced OBU mentor are significantly more likely to pass on their first attempt and achieve Merit or Distinction grades compared to those who work alone.

★★★★★

The OBU mentoring I received from Bilal was exceptional. I had previously attempted my RAP without proper guidance and failed. With Bilal's methodical approach, topic analysis, and detailed feedback on my drafts, I not only passed but received commendable remarks from the grader. A mentor who truly invests in your success. Five stars, without question.

OBU Mentoring FAQs

The typical timeline is 3–5 months from initial consultation to final submission, depending on how much time you can dedicate each week. Students who commit 8–10 hours per week can complete the project in as little as 10–12 weeks.
Under OBU's rules, the official mentor must be someone familiar with your professional work. However, I provide comprehensive mentoring, coaching, and review throughout your project and help you understand exactly what your official mentor needs to do for the sign-off process.
Topic 8 (Business and financial performance evaluation) is the most popular and well-supported topic — and the one I have the deepest expertise in. However, topic selection is always personalised to your professional background, data access, and individual strengths.
Absolutely. The SLS is often overlooked by students, but it carries significant weight in the assessment. I provide detailed guidance on how to structure your reflection, what qualities OBU is looking for, and how to write it compellingly and professionally.
No problem at all. Many students come to me midway through their project. I'll review what you've done, identify gaps or weaknesses, and help you course-correct for a successful submission.
